Why Is Grass Fed Best?
Cows are ruminants - their entire body is designed to digest grass. When allowed to follow their natural path, cows grow up big and strong on just grass.
Grain causes rapid weight gain in cattle, much of it coming as fat. As their bodies are not made to eat to grain, their digestive systems increase acidity in order to digest the grain. This can make cows really sick, resulting in continuous use of antibiotics to keep them healthy. Our calves are raised with their mothers for 8-10 months before splitting off and creating a teen-aged herd of their own. As we are exclusively grass fed, our cattle take a little longer to reach harvesting age - generally 24-26 months. This extra time means more time to develop muscle rather than just packing on the pounds in fat like a grain-fed animal.

Grass fed beef is far leaner and contains higher levels of key nutrients including conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), vitamins, and antioxidants. In addition, grass fed beef has on average 50% more heart healthy Omega-3 fatty acids than conventional beef.
Since our cows are eating as nature intended, there is no need for antibiotics or growth hormones to speed their path to harvest. Grass fed is healthier for the cow and healthier for you too! |
